All advertisements provide you with a request form that allows you to email the owners directly. Some owners also provide their telephone number or fax number. You can conveniently direct all your questions about the property to the owner, who then can provide specific answers to you.
Property owners have different ways of arranging for rental bookings. When making a reservation, be sure to provide the owner with your arrival and departure dates, the number of guests (adults and children), if you plan on bringing any pets, and any special needs you may have.
To ensure that details of the rental are communicated, a clearly written rental agreement is recommended. An email can serve as rental agreement and should include defined arrival and departure dates, payment schedules, detailed instructions, and terms and conditions related to cancellations and refunds.
In addition to the booking deposit, you will also be asked to provide a refundable security deposit either at the time of booking or upon arrival. Specifics related to the security deposit, including property maintenance, damages and additional fees such as telephone charges, should be detailed in the rental agreement. Make sure to have Bulgarian leva available to make any payments or security deposits in the local currency upon arrival.
The cancellation policy associated with your rental agreement or lease should clearly communicate penalties associated with canceling your contract. Note that cancellations due to weather conditions are not usually permitted unless specified in the rental agreement. Travel insurance can protect your vacation investment if unforeseen circumstances require you to cancel your trip.
You should get directions to the property, receive a key or the name and contact information (phone number and address) of the person who will welcome you to the property. You may also get the name and contact information of someone else that is on sight that you could contact if anything goes wrong.
This will depend on the owner and the arrangements you made prior to your vacation. Some owners may have sent you the keys, some owners live on site and can meet you in person, and sometimes owners arrange for a representative to meet you at the property. Make sure that you have the relevant contact information before you depart so you can be in contact should something go wrong. Also, if you are delayed in your arrival, be courteous and let the owner or representative know.
For this purpose, you should receive contact information of the owner or the local representative. It’s best to contact that person in order to quickly resolve any concerns.
The owner should provide you with check out instructions and policies. Cleaning policies vary; therefore you should get informed of how much you are expected to clean up prior to departure. Even if a cleaning service is included in the rent, the property should be left in tidy and in good condition. Check out policies should be part of the instructions you were provided. The owner or their representative will check the property shortly before or after your departure. If there is no damage, any security deposits should be refunded on the spot or within two weeks.
Many of our listings have been visited by our regional representatives. However, we recommend that you ask for references of past renters from the owners.
1. Make your reservations early. You will have more choices and get a better price.
2. Get lease or rental agreement. Before making any payments, put all the specifics down on paper.
3. Make sure to make deposits and payments on time. Delays in payments may result in the cancellation of your reservation.
4. Inform yourself about the cancellation policy. Make sure you have a clear cancellation policy in writing. Most likely you will lose at least part of your deposit when you have to cancel. Especially during peak travel times, owners may offer no refunds on your deposit in case you have to cancel.
5. Ask for complete instructions before traveling. You should get informed about how to gain entry to the property (e.g. how keys or access codes are made available). Also, you should get the owner’s phone number or that of a local representative.
